'I dreamed we were travelling together’

 

This is my first solo album from distant 1996, recorded live in the church of St. Georg in Ernen, Switzerland. For the first time I’m signing this production as it is no longer a release in the Bloomline series.

Ernen…a magic word! It all started there, in the folds of the Valais Alps, with the music and life lessons by György Sebok (1922-1999). In the 1970s he discovered this picturesque village, his 'dream place' as he put it. Ever since Ernen became a kind of new musical Mecca where musicians from all over the world gathered for his masterclasses and the 'Festival der Zukunft' he founded.

'Music travels further than sound',  was a beloved statement by Sebok, and it particularly struck my life partner, Leo de Klerk. As a Tonmeister and creative visionary, Leo was always concerned with what deeply moved and motivated him: transferring the musical performance to the listener unblemished, liberated from sound technical barriers.

Between 2006 and 2019, Leo and I made about a dozen albums, also a reflection of our most cherished journeys, with each production resembling an unbridled mountain trek. A trip to Ernen together: It was still on our list! Unfortunately, his passing away overtook our wishes and dreams. Wasn't it Picasso who didn't stop anywhere? 'Everything you can imagine is real.'

I dedicate this album to my Leo and - how could it be otherwise - to the magnificent teacher György Sebok, in the hundredth anniversary of his birth.
